Steve Jobs said that innovation only happens at the intersections of different disciplines.
If you want to innovate, you need to find intersections. The way to find intersections is to try new things. Visit new places. Meet new people.
When you taste a new thing, see a new sight, hear a new opinion, that’s when the penny drops.
That’s when you can take your domain expertise and apply it to a completely different industry.
If you stay within your world (industry, geography, people) you limit your chances of finding intersections.
If you don’t find intersections you can’t innovate.
If you can innovate, what’s the point?
