When advising some, imagine it’s your mom or dad

  • By Alan Knott-Craig

The goal of giving advice is for the other person to take it.

If the other person thinks you’re talking-down or being disrespectful, he won’t take your advice.

You need to focus on HOW you deliver advice, not just what advice you deliver.

The simplest way to be effective is to address the other person respectfully.

Imagine you’re speaking to your mom or dad.

You’re more likely to find the right words to convey your point with great respect.

That way, the other person will be more receptive.

That’s how you win the day.
