The past and future come before the present

When finding partners for a new venture, you’re always forced to consider the past, present and future.

Past – Do you share values? Can you anticipate how she will react in bad situations?

Future – Do you share a common vision? When you’re three years down the track will your objectives still be aligned? Ten years down the road? Are you both chasing money? Or both chasing something else?

Present – The new venture.

Most people spend 10% of their time considering the past and future and 90% on the deal.

That’s why most partnerships fail.

Before worrying about the deal before you, make sure you’re aligned on values and vision.

The past and future come before the present.
