When I was 13 years old I had to have a chest operation. The bones had overlapped and were now growing into my heart, so the doctors had to saw away 8cm on both sides and let the bones regrow.
I lay in a hospital bed for 8 weeks unable to walk, sit, or laugh. Who knew the chest was so important!?!
But as long as your chest is fine, you never notice how important it is to everything.
It’s the same in companies. It’s generally the quiet girl or guy in the corner that nobody notices that is the invisible glue in the system. The “talkers” are the ones that garner the glory and the bonuses and life is dandy until one day the glue decides to find another job.
And the company breaks.
