If you want someone to work harder, give him a cash incentive, ie: R10,000 for reaching sales targets.

If you want him to work really hard, give him recognition, ie: An employee-of-the-month award.

If you want him to work as hard as he possibly can, give him steak. If he makes his target, give him a 1kg lump of meat to take home. His spouse and kids will be blown away. He will get the glory at home and work.

And he’ll know he better bring home a steak the next Friday.
