Batesian mimicry refers to situations where a harmless species has evolved to imitate the warning signals of a harmful species. In effect, the copycat shields himself from attack without going to all the effort of actually arming himself.

It happens a lot in business, take fund management for example: It’s very hard to tell the difference between a good money manager and someone who just has the patter down. The fakes rely on your confusion to attract your money.

Lots of people do this. Copy the behaviour and appearance of legitimate stars, and then fleece the unsuspecting buyer, or hirer.

How do you identify a fake? The only safe way is to be an expert on the subject. It takes one to know one. The real deal can spot the faker.
