As animals, we are wired to always look for causality. “Why did that happen? There must be a reason”
This thinking is what has saved many a tribesman over the past 10,000 years. He hears a rustle of grass and doesn’t shrug and say, “Must be the wind”. He immediately assumes it’s a tiger and takes evasive action.
We’re wired to look for casuality. Our ancestors survived by looking for reasons.
But not everything that happens has a reason. Some things are simply random. There is no reason, it just happened.
Maybe you win the lottery. Don’t be fooled into thinking you’re a genius, it was just good luck.
Maybe you lose your job. Don’t be fooled into thinking you’re a failure, it was just bad luck.
Go ahead and keep an eye out for causality, that’s how we learn and avoid repeating our mistakes.
But as an entrepreneur you must accept that many things are random.
Don’t let the good stuff go to your head.
Don’t take the bad stuff personally.
