That’s why when he arrived in North America he thought it was India (that’s why native Americans were call Indians).

It took many decades before he realize that America was a separate continent to India and in fact was separated by the world’s greatest ocean: the Pacific

Columbus went on to become one of the richest men in the world, and his discoveries led directly to Spain becoming the wealthiest and most powerful nation for hundreds of years.
