Don’t try and be perfect

  • By Alan Knott-Craig

Perfectionism is:

  • So-and-so is all good/bad.
  • If you’re not with me, you’re against me.
  • Because this wasn’t a complete success, it is a total failure.

Perfectionism mostly results in disappointment. It is the enemy of speed.

It stops people from even trying, just in case the result is not perfect.

Entrepreneurs can’t afford to be perfectionists. You must be satisfied with even the smallest progress. Take what you get.

Your dreams should be aimed at constantly moving forward. Making small differences every day.

There is plenty that you could do right now, today, that would make the world a better place, or make a bit more profit.

There are plenty of small, imperfect steps that, were you to take them, would move things forward.

Don’t excuse yourself from doing them because the conditions aren’t right or because a better opportunity might come along soon.

Do what you can, now. And when you’ve done it, keep it in perspective and don’t overblow the results.

Progress is more important than perfection
