If you don’t deliver the goods, take it on the chin.

Take it on the chin, especially when someone else is to blame.

You might not make your customer happy, but you’ll win his respect.

Far better that than losing his respect.

And for what? Just to shift the blame and ultimately to make you look like you’re not in charge.
