A famous Aesop fable talks of when Dog tried to convince Wolf to join the dog pack.

As Dog described the food, and blankets, and warm kennel, Wolf became increasingly tempted.

Eventually Wolf asked, “What’s that thing around your neck?”

When Dog explained, Wolf walked away.

Rather a life of freedom and stress than being a slave.

A dog’s life may seem secure, but when the owner leaves/dies the dog is left alone, with no skills to fend for itself in the wild.
