When you’re in a position of power it’s easy to bully and entice people to do what you want them to do, even if it’s not what they want to do.

For example, assume one of your stars desperately wants to take a year off and follow his dream of being a game ranger. Simply offer him an enormous bonus for the coming year.

He will speak to his wife and eventually do the “sane” thing: Work for another year.

Postponing your dreams for short-term monetary gain is not sane. It’s insane. You only have one life. If you have a dream, chase it.

No matter how valuable your star is, don’t stop him from following his dreams.
